As we complete week 2, we once again welcome students and families to 2022, in particular those new to the Senior School community. We thank you for the ways you have engaged either in person or online and hope you are settling in well.

It’s always a joy to assist the new Year 7 students as they navigate their timetables and find their classrooms for lessons with their subject teachers. They have embarked on this challenge with great excitement. I have been impressed with the introduction to the Mentor Teachers, with the spirit of the Houses demonstrating their patron saint and colours. We are grateful for the commitment and generosity of our students and staff.

Over the break, Mr Neville Turnbull and the maintenance team worked hard. New House Leaders’ offices were constructed in the Bellarmine Building, new Promethean display panels were installed in all teaching spaces, two science laboratories had a makeover, a new Faith and Service Hub was refreshed next to the Kranewitter Hall, a new staff area was created in the undercroft, and provisions are underway to expand the tuckshop serving area. Later in the year, we hope to see the refurbishment of the change rooms and the construction of a new art/design and technology centre.

Thank you for your involvement via MS Teams with the Mentor Teacher conversations on Thursday (and next Monday) after school. These formal conversations enable Mentor Teachers to meet families and students in their care to plan goals together. Our new House-based pastoral care structure is designed for staff to know, love, and affirm students in our care better. Hence, it is essential that we, as educators and parents, work in partnership together to support our students on their journey to becoming men and women for others.
