The year has begun in earnest, bearing all its promise and hope of new beginnings. Old friends reacquaint themselves, while new friendships are seeded. There is a strong sense of purposefulness and connectedness in starting the year. Our newly introduced Three-Way Conversations have served to strengthen the partnership between home and school, championing the personalised care of each student. The Language of Friendship evening on Tuesday was well received, with over 250 parents and children in attendance. Through rich parent‒child interactive activities, parents were given several strategies the school uses to support children in fostering healthy relationships.

Our opening Mass for the year shared the message of ‘Many fruits from the one Spirit’. All of us come together at the start of the year bringing our aspirations, hopes, and dreams for the year ahead. While we are many in number and diverse in culture, we are of one spirit, one community in this Ignatian family. In this service, we also commissioned all the new staff who have joined us in their roles as educators, mentors, and key workers supporting the school’s mission.

Faith-filled and hopeful, we start the new year. We are inspired and challenged to live deeply into our Ignatian heritage what is written on the wall of our reception foyer, as Jesuit schools are places in which people are believed in, honoured and cared for (Ignatian Pedagogy 1993 n.37).
