Books play a significant role in our life. They are more than just a combination of words on paper. Books allow us to escape and be lost in different worlds, real or imagined; travel through time; visit new places; and experience things you may never encounter in real life. They help us imagine new worlds and perspectives. They provide us with an opportunity to learn about different cultures, explore new ideas, and gain insights into the grandeur of the world around us.

Literature has the power to spark new life and inspire change.

The power of books is well described in the poem Notes on the Art of Poetry by Dylan Thomas:

I could never have dreamt that there were such goings-on
in the world between the covers of books,
such sandstorms and ice blasts of words,
such staggering peace, such enormous laughter,
such and so many blinding bright lights,
splashing all over the pages
in a million bits and pieces
all of which were words, words, words,
and each of which were alive forever
in its own delight and glory and oddity and light.

Thank you, parents, caregivers, and grandparents for joining our celebration of books. We loved seeing all the creative costumes, and thank you for supporting this exciting day and what it stands for. The children have loved dressing up ‒ almost as much as the staff!

There has been a rich plethora of illustrators and visiting authors for all the students to engage with and be inspired by. Thank you to the Book Week Committee, Vanesa, Julia and our Teacher‒Librarian, Adriana McDonald, for creating this amazing opportunity for us to celebrate books, and how they grow, nurture, and inspire us.

May we always be open to such goings on in the world between two covers! especially for children. Reading books increases the knowledge of students, improves their intellect, makes students aware of the various societies, and civilizations across the globe. Moreover, reading books enhances imagination and creativity in the student's mind.

Reading books allows us to enter a world that is entirely different from your own. You can
