SATAC Deadlines are looming!!!!!

Next week is the final deadline to apply to SATAC for 2023 and NOT get a $150 late fee! In addition, it’s not too late to apply for an early offer from Flinders using your Year 11 grades.

September 30 Last date for no late fee, Flinders Year 11 results deadline, 5pm.

December 1 Equal Consideration Closing date, put in your top 6 preferences to be considered equally with the rest of the applicants.

Jan 4 Change of Preference cut-off date, change your preferences in order you want them.

Jan 12 Main offer round 1

Jan 25 Second offer round

Feb 2 Third offer round. Offers will continue through Feb and March.

Medicine at Flinders (Dec 1) and University of Adelaide have their own final dates, please check carefully. As does Vet Bioscience, Dentistry, Oral Health (September 30) Check all dates in the green book and uni websites. Creative Arts at Flinders closes November 28. Charles Darwin’s clinical sciences, midwifery, nursing and paramedicine closes December 1.

VET 2023

Any students thinking about undertaking VET studies in 2023 should make an appointment to discuss their plans as soon as possible, especially for funded VET courses. Ideally students could undertake exploratory VET in the form of a Try a Trade, Work Experience or a VET Immersion experience whilst in Year 10 then apply for VET whilst in Year 11. PEER Try A Trade Program


Interested in a Trade / VET in 2023? Want to find out more and experience a ‘taster”?

These interactive learning sessions aim to give participants a ‘taste’ of the above trades, and to help them decide whether a VET course or an apprenticeship is the right career path for them.

PEER currently offers a one-day Try a Trade Program at our award-winning training centre located in Albert Park.

  • Monday 10 October: Female Only, Year 7-12
  • Monday 12 December: Year 7-10
  • Wednesday 8 March: Female Only, Year 7-12

Places are limited.

If a student is not eligible for the CITB subsidy, the cost per participant is $129.00 (Inc. GST). Contact PEER on 8348 1200 for funding criteria.

For safety reasons, all participants must have:

  • Long sleeve shirt or top (no hoodies with drawstring).
  • Long pants
  • Closed in shoes
  • PEER will supply safety glasses and gloves, if required.

Apprenticeship and Traineeship Pathways

This week some of our Year 12 students met with Paula from MAS National to plan their pathways into apprenticeships. Paula helped the tailor their resumes and cover letters, gave them advice regarding the process and explained the system to them. Two of the students have completed VET studies as a part of their SACE. Both have completed cert II Pathways to Construction and a cert II Advanced Carpentry at Grand Junction Trade Training Centre and are work ready! If anyone in the in community knows of folks looking for an apprentice in carpentry or electrical / refrigeration let me know! We also have students looking for work experience in electrical and plumbing trades.
