Careers Expo / The Great Outdoors!

Do you hate the idea of sitting at a desk / in an office ? Want a career where you’ll be working outdoors? With nature? Are you looking at marine science? Outdoor Ed? Human Movement? Park Ranger? Environmental Science? Is PE ? camping/ outdoor activities your thing? The first NBONSA Careers Expo provides a showcase of opportunities to gain information about employment and building a career in the outdoors or using the skills and knowledge you’ve developed through your Outdoor Education experience.

When? Thursday 17th August, 1-5pm.

Where? Karen Rolton Oval (Park 25) opposite RAH

Who should attend?

• School students interested in careers and experience outdoors – particularly Stage 1 and 2 Outdoor Education and Environmental Science Students

• University and TAFE students – particularly those studying Outdoor Education and Environmental Science

• Tree changers – those looking to change to a career in the outdoors

• Teachers, career counsellors and youth leaders – those looking to provide advice to young people about outdoor careers

• Current outdoor sector employees – looking to explore other opportunities or network

Internal VET at Saint Ignatius’ College 2024

Certificate III Hospitality

In 2024 we’re very excited to announce a new VET option. The College will be offering a cert II in Cookery and Cert III in Hospitality. These courses must be completed together. They will be delivered by the Adelaide Institute of Hospitality in the Dennett Centre Kitchen. This is a nationally recognised qualification under ASQA. The cost will be subsidised by the College and will be $600. Please note a compulsory work placement is a requirement of this course.

We will also continue to offer the Certificate III in Screen and Media.

SATAC Parent Information night, Tuesday August 15.

The College will run a Year 12 parent SATAC information evening for parents who would like to know more about the process in order to support their student’s applications. This event will be on Tuesday 15 August, 6.30pm in the Bellarmine Room.

Students do not need to attend. The same information will be presented to students in an assembly at school.

SATAC applications open in August and to avoid a late fee students should register and pay by September 29. However, there will be a great deal of support and advice provided at the College.

Girls only try a trade day and Certificate III Electrotechnology

St Mary’s College, Adelaide, will host a Girls VET class for the Certificate II in Electrotechnology in 2024. The Cert II will be delivered by PEER, onsite at St Mary’s College after school, with some school holiday intensive days at PEER. The Certificate II is a Flexible Industry Pathways VET course.

To provide girls with the opportunity to explore what a VET course in this career area might be like, and to provide VETRO evidence, a one-day Girls Electrotechnology & Engineering Day will be held at PEER on Monday 21 August 2023.

Enrolments for both the Girls Electrotechnology & Engineering One Day Immersion and the Certificate II in Electrotechnology are limited. Enrolments will be taken on a first in basis (subject to a successful VETRO process for the funded Cert II).
