Homepage News/Calendar The Ignatian Newsletter Faith and Service Update Article information Time 9 Nov 2023 Our Ignatian community continues to be generous in being people with and for others. In our service and fundraising initiatives, we seek to educate students and families about the causes of injustice and the value of solidarity with those on the margins. We are encouraged to accompany and to explore relationships when we support partners such as Caritas, Jesuit Mission, Jesuit Refugee Service, Aboriginal Catholic Ministries, Centacare, The Adelaide Day Centre and St Vincent de Paul. In terms of service, students in the Ignatian Service Program have logged over 35,000 of service hours. This testifies to the desire and willingness of our senior school students to walk with others. Moreover the Year 11s also completed the Caroline Chisholm Service Program over 4 days at the end of Term two equating to 560 days of service with others. And the Pedro Arrupe Service program in the Junior school includes more hours of service with and for others. In addition, the Adelaide Day Centre and various St Vincent de Paul groups have been extremely grateful for our food and hygiene packs, clothing and blanket drives at the Junior and Senior Schools. In terms of fundraising, so far this year we have raised over $37,000 at the Junior and Senior School: Term 1Caritas Project Compassion - $9119 Term 2Aboriginal Catholic Ministry - Reconciliation Week - $2265Jesuit Refugee Service - Year 12 ‘Cage’ sleepout - $10,000 Term 3Jesuit Mission - Junior School Mission Fete and Senior School ‘Pedro Pop Ups’ - $16,274 Both the Junior and Senior schools are actively contributing to support St. Vincent de Paul this term. In the Senior School, we have initiated our Christmas Care Pack Appeal, focusing on assisting groups associated with St. Vincent de Paul and Centacare. We encourage you to discuss the specific donation needs with your sons or daughters, especially concerning each Mentor Group in the Senior School. Simultaneously, at the Junior School, we are organising collections of gifts and food for our Christmas appeal from weeks 6 to 8. Your participation and contributions are greatly appreciated. As a community we can always do more.
