The highly anticipated Ekiden Relay took place on Thursday 20th October. Ignatius entered 4 teams and this gave the opportunity for a number of younger runners and new runners to compete in this exciting event.

The race began with a 5.4km leg for each team and it was special to watch Tiana Cetta run her last competitive race for the College. Hugo Black, Dominic Cameron and George Serocki also performed brilliantly over this distance, putting all our teams in a good position for the beginning of the race. The remaining seven runners for each team ran either 2.8km, 1.5km or 1km legs. There were some superb performances across the teams including Meg Popping and Seth Valente’s 2.8km legs; Xander Shekar and Lily Whiteman’s 1.5km legs as well as Leo Jiang’s lightning fast 1km leg.

This relay is the final competition for the Cross Country squad for 2022. All runners should be proud of their commitment to the program and engagement in the running culture across the year. Thanks to the teachers and old scholar coaches who have all enabled the program to be so positive throughout the year.
