Saint Ignatius’ College would like to extend a huge congratulations to our students Neve Sargeant (yr 11), Alicia Hammond (yr 11) and Inara Lang (yr 10) who have been selected to perform and be involved in the Australian annual Junior Theatre Festival (JTF) at Newcastle’s Civic Theatre this month. Through Music Theatre International Australasia (MTIA), City of Newcastle and Travel Gang, the event brings pupils, teachers and industry professionals together from all over Australia to acknowledge outstanding student musical theatre productions and engage in musical theatre skills and experiences. The girls will work with many musical theatre industry professionals during this week, such as Paulini, David Rogers-Smith, Nina Meehan and Olivia Charalambous.

Composer Mertzlufft (Ratatouille, The Tik Tok Musical) will also be on hand to debut a portion of Dot and the Kangaroo JR – a Broadway Junior musical based on the beloved Australian children’s book. Neve, Alicia and Inara have been selected to work with this composer on the cast recording of Dot and the Kangaroo and they will also perform in the pilot of Beetlejuice.

This is indeed a wonderful experience for these students, and we wish them every success in the two weeks ahead.
