SACPSSA Division 1 Swimming Carnival, Burnside Outdoor Pool, Monday, March 18

What a successful and fun day had by all our wonderful junior school swimmers at the Division 1 Catholic Schools Swimming Carnival.

We were pleased to be able to sport a full girls’ team but were light on boys, with only seven boys attending the day. Despite having no Year 3 boys and being short on boys in both Years 4 and 5, the small but talented team still managed to finish in 3rd place overall, with Aidan Lee winning the Year 6 age group championship and Declan Lin winning the Year 5 championship.

The girls were extremely solid throughout the day and finished in an incredible 2nd place overall, with some outstanding personal achievements. Congratulations to Adella Jia for winning the Year 4 individual championship and Sukti Patel for claiming 2nd place also in the Year 4 individual championship. The Year 4 girls (Alice Cappo, Olivia Perry, Adella Jia and Sukti Patel) and Year 6 girls (Nisha Malik, Priya Malik and Aleksandra Giro) convincingly won their year level trophies.

Special mention to Rihanna Rabbah, Greta Richmond, Laurel Yang, Ellie Schwarze and Aaron Hou, who all swam in their first school competition and all dropped their times hugely from trials.

Congratulations also to the following students who broke records on the day:

• Adella Jia in the Year 4 Girls 50 Freestyle, 50 Backstroke and 50 Breaststroke
• Year 4 girls 4 x 50m Freestyle relay team of Adella Jia, Sukti Patel, Alice Cappo and Olivia Perry
• Declan Lin in the Year 5 Boys 50 Freestyle, 50 Backstroke and 50 Butterfly
• Aidan Lee in the Year 6 boys 50 Breaststroke

The College also wishes to thank Mrs Claire Duncan for her coaching and organisational skills on the day.
