The first week of the holidays was an exciting and highly successful week for our students in a range of significant Co-curricular events. I provide a summary below where you can see photos and read more about the achievements of our students and their excellent performances.

In addition to the achievements outlined, we thank the parents and families who hosted billets for our visiting schools and the staff involved in the organisation, coaching, traveling or hosting responsibilities of each event, as named below. Thank you to the students, parents, old scholars and staff who came out to support our teams and provide great atmosphere at the Adelaide events.

Aerobics State Finals - three teams achieved first place

Our Senior School Aerobics squad participated in the FISAF State finals. All girls performed exceptionally well, with 3 teams achieving First Place and another team achieving Second Place in their category. We will have 3 teams competing at Nationals in August.

Jesuit Debating - Runners Up

Hosted by St Aloysius' College (SAC), our team debated exceptionally well, particularly given they had not debated together as a team before this carnival. They defeated both Xavier College and Saint Ignatius' Riverview to qualify for the Grand Final, in which they were defeated by SAC.

Jesuit Team Selection: Matilda Byrnes

Thank you to staff: Anthony Haskell, Vania Thurston and Aaron Dohse

Jesuit Soccer - Loyola Cup Winners

We hosted Jesuit Soccer and also qualified for the Grand Final against SAC following a dominant win against Riverview and a hard-fought win against Xavier. In a continuation of their outstanding performances across the carnival, our team won 2-0 and secured the Loyola Cup, having not won the carnival since 2001.

JACSA Girls Sport - Overall Shield Winners

As one carnival ended, another took over as we also hosted the JACSA Girls Sport Carnival against Loyola College, Watsonia. Having not won the Football or A Grade Volleyball matches previously, our girls played a consistently strong team game to win the Football, A and B Netball and A and B Volleyball matches, with Loyola demonstrating their Soccer strength in the final match of the carnival. Overall, it was our strongest performance yet in this Carnival, and we were victorious in winning the championship shield for the first time.

Player of the Carnival: Lucie Bailey

Spirit Award: Lola Hannon-Tan

Jesuit Team Selection: Lucie Bailey, Zara Burgess, Hannah McBain, Meg Popping, Madelyn Madrussani, Arabella Beinke

Finally, for the overall organisation and hosting of two highly successful back-to-back carnivals, for which all our visitor schools also expressed their gratitude for the hospitality they received, we offer great thanks to Matt Panos and Serena Slade, who were supported by the Grounds and Maintenance and Tuckshop Staff.

State Hockey

Congratulations to students Jemima Davies and Emily Holland who travelled to Hobart in July to participate in the National U18 Hockey Championships. Additionally, Jemima was voted as the captain of the state team which is nice feather in her cap. Well done to both girls who are an integral part of our Hockey Program.

State Music Camp

Congratulations to: Liam Lenden Barnes - 5 Blue, Eva Li - 5 Red, Leo Natale - 5 Red, Sam Ramos - 5 Gold, Huan Chong - 6 Blue, Declan Lin - 6 Gold, Samuel Ng - 6 Red, Gabriele Natale - C7-1 , Chiara Paris - K7-1, Yu Chong - R8-2, Ella Ma - K 8-1, Roshan Abraham - X9-2, Grace Lenden Barnes - C9-1, and Ethan Li - C9-2.

These students attended the annual State Music Camp through the holidays. State Music Camp, held at the University of Adelaide, is an opportunity for young musicians from across the state to come together for a week and rehearse new music ready for performance at the end of the week. These students should be very proud of what was a fantastic concert in Elder Hall.

Our students were also fortunate enough to be supported by some of our Instrumental Teachers, Will Madden, Greg Perkins and Neal Perkins, who were members of staff at State Music Camp this year.
