Our young language learners at the junior school have been very busy lately. Four groups of our students recently participated in the Australian Voices-Chinese singing competition hosted by the Australian and China Culture Promotion Association and the Australia-China Young Professionals Initiative. The performance of our fantastic singers impressed the Elder Hall audience last Saturday.

Our Year Five groups submitted two songs: 'Shui guo ge' (a song we sing at school to learn all kinds of fruits) and the Chinese version of 'Auld Lang Syne'. They won the most creative performance and the best expressive performance, respectively. The Year Six group won the best expressive prize for their version of 'Ye Kong Zhong Zui Liang de Xing' (The Brightest Star in the Sky).

Furthermore, Xiang Huan Chong (Year Six Blue) and Solomon Wright-Hegarty (Year Six Gold), who sang 'Shui Diao Ge Tou' (Prelude to Water Melody), claimed the second prize. Overall, it was a great learning experience for our students, and we are very proud of their achievements.

Special thanks go to the music department of the Junior school and all the parents and caregivers. We could not have gone this far without their generous support.
