Homepage News/Calendar The Ignatian Newsletter Track & Field Gold Medals Article information Time 7 Mar 2023 Over three days, the Ignatius athletes competed in a variety of events coming home with a number of personal bests as well as medals. Congratulations to Lily McBain who continues to improve in one of the hardest events on the program, the 400m, where she ran a personal best time. Tom Kavanagh was superb in the 1500m and Tehan Arachichi Appahumilage Don ran well in his 100m and jumped strongly in the long jump. Hannah McBain showed her commitment and speed in the 200m and then backed up to win a bronze medal in the Triple Jump. Lily Whiteman was determined as ever running in the 100m, winning a bronze in the long jump and a gold medal in the triple jump. Ella Sloan was as incredible as ever, with nerves of steel, jumping a personal best to win a gold medal in the High Jump. Eva Di Iulio showed her diversity and athleticism coming home with a bronze medal in the 100m hurdles, silver medal in the triple jump and a gold medal in the 400m hurdles. In an outstanding weekend of athletic performance, Isabelle Cherry placed 4th in the 90m Hurdles, won a silver medal in the High Jump, a gold medal in the Shot Put and a gold medal in the Discus. It was a huge weekend of athletics and all athletes deserve the excellent results that they achieved. They all know they are well placed now for National competitions as well as the upcoming school athletics carnival and interschool carnivals at the end of the term.
