The Old Ignatians’ Soccer Club (OISC) was born from a five-a-side soccer team which played at the then Morialta High School in the late 1970s, and has grown into a well established and supported club, playing on Saturdays in the South Australian Amateur Soccer League since 1994. The club currently fields four men’s sides across all levels of the Saturday competition with approximately 100 registered players. In 2012 the club launched its first ever Women’s side in the FFSA Women’s Collegiate League playing on Sundays.

OISC is based at Margaret Bond Reserve in Glenunga. The clubs facilities have undergone a major transformation with a brand new clubroom facility, change rooms, improved playing surfaces and lighting which will give the club some of the best amateur soccer facilities in Adelaide.

The club has enjoyed some success in recent years, in 2013 the A Grade achieving it’s highest Division 1 finish of 3rd along with the women’s side who have become one of the top sides in the competition reaching the Semi Finals of the Cup Competition in the last two successive years. The pinnacle of recent years coming in season 2014 when the B Grade were crowned Reserve Cup Champions after defeating Sunday powerhouse Elizabeth Downs 6-1 at Hindmarsh Stadium.

Off the field, the club has built a strong social culture with a number of annual events which are all well attended and highly successful events for the club. These include the Captain’s Armband Season Launch, Ladies Day, Quiz Night, End of Season Drinks and Presentation Night.

The club is proud to maintain its strong links with the College with the annual ‘Old Ignatians’ Soccer Club Challenge Shield’ matches between an OISC select Men’s XI and women’s XI and the first XI boys and girls of Saint Ignatius’ College. These matches prove to be tightly fought contests which serve their primary purpose of continuing to promote and foster the relationship between OISC and the College. To further build on this in 2015 the club held its first Old Scholars day in conjunction with the Old Ignatians’ Association to involve and reach out to the broader Old Ignatian community.

The playing group is comprised of both old scholars from the College community, and members of the public who wish to continue their soccer career at an amateur or social level. We cater for a range of players both men and women and encourage anyone interested in playing soccer in a friendly environment to join the club. Please contact: secretary@oisc.com.au
